01 · Understand the idea
In simple words
AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence. It is a research concept about broad capabilities across many kinds of task. Definitions differ, so do not assume everyone means exactly the same thing. An excellent translation result proves something about translation; it does not demonstrate every ability needed in every job.
Two useful terms
Generality: breadth across tasks. Benchmark: a defined set of tasks used to measure a capability.
Build your understanding
Artificial general intelligence is a research concept concerning broad capability across tasks. Definitions and measurement proposals differ. A model doing well on one benchmark does not by itself establish broad competence. Evaluate concrete evidence, scope and limitations instead of treating AGI as a label with one universally agreed test.
